Your carrier packet has been downloaded and emailed to you. You're now ready to set up with freight brokers and start hauling loads.
Your next steps — what to do right now:
1
Review your packet carefully
Open the PDF and verify every field — company name, MC number, DOT number, insurance amounts, and payment info. Fix any typos before sending to brokers.
2
Download your official W-9 from the IRS
Go to irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw9.pdf, fill it out, sign it, and attach it to your carrier packet when sending to brokers.
3
Get your Certificate of Insurance (COI) from your agent
Call your insurance company and ask for a COI listing the broker as the certificate holder. Attach it to your packet before sending.
4
Set up with freight brokers
Start with brokers known to accept new carriers — TQL, Echo Global, Coyote Logistics, and Worldwide Express. Read our setup guide here.
5
Sign up for a load board
DAT One or 123Loadboard are great starting points. Read our comparison guide to pick the right one.
6
Keep your packet updated
If your insurance, address, equipment, or banking info changes — generate a new packet. Brokers need current information.
